How to get to The Pepper Cottage
The house is located in Wepathana, around 17 km east from Kandy City, close to the Victoria Laka and Knuckles Range. The address is 64 Bodhiya Road, Wepathana, 20184 Gomegoda.
By public transport
Take bus # 654 to Digana which starts from the bus station near the market by the railway crossing (200 meters from the train station). They leave every 10 minutes and takes about 40 minutes to reach Digana town which costs Rs. 40,- p.p. Get off the bus at Gonawalle Junction near milepost 16. From there the easiest is to take a tuktuk. Walking to the house takes around half an hour.
If you have to explain to the tuktuk driver: take the Gomegoda Road and after 400 meter at the “Y”junction turn left on Wepathana road. When the road has a sharp bend to the left take the first road on the right, that is Bodiya road. Our place is on top of that road. You find a small parking place down next to the house.
By car, tuktuk or any other vehicle
From Kandy to The Pepper Cottage
Follow the A26 from Kandy to Mahiyangana. Cross Digana, after 2 km turn left just before km post 16 onto Gomegoda Road. After 400 meter at the “Y”junction turn left on Wepathana road. When the road has a sharp bend to the left take the first road on the right, that is Bodiya road. Our place is on top of that road. You find a small parking place down next to the house.
From Sigiriya/Dambulla to The Pepper Cottage
If coming from Sigiriya/Dambulla, take the Wattegama road, about 1 Km after Matale hospital. At Madawala bazaar, turn left to Digana where you enter and proceed the A26. Turn left on the 16th Km post on the A26 and follow the same instructions. In this way you avoid the heavy traffic leading to/from Kandy city.
From Mahiyangana to The Pepper Cottage
When coming from Mahiyangana on the A26, pass Teldeniya, cross the bridge over the ‘Hulu Ganga’, which can be recognized by the many stones, continue till you reach the top of the hill. Take the road to the right after the mechanic just after the descent starts (just after km post 16). Follow this Gomegoda Road and after 400 meter at the “Y”junction turn left on Wepathana road. When the road has a sharp bend to the left take the first road on the right, that is Bodiya road. Our place is on top of that road. You find a small parking place down next to the house.
