A 50-year-old village house, rebuilt by the people who live around it. Sleeps six, suits two.
The house
Room to spread out
The original walls were rough stone set in mud. We kept one of them in the living room and built the rest of the house around it: a big open living and dining space, a wide kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all under a new terracotta roof.
At the front is a small veranda with a built-in bench, the best dry spot when it rains. On the east side a large terrace looks out over the forest to Victoria Lake. It's where breakfast is served and where most guests end up at sunrise.
The house works for a family or a group of up to six, and it's just as good for one or two people who want some quiet. There's a small garden room with a single bed too, if you need it.

Rent all three with the whole cottage, or book a single room when the house is shared. Bed linen, towels and breakfast are always included.

Two long single beds (210 cm, built by Rukman in the village) and a window onto the garden.

Another twin room, quiet and cool, with space for an extra mattress if you need one.

Long stays & remote work
A good place to get work done
Unlimited fibre internet, a long dining table to work at, and a terrace for calls with a view. When your eyes need a break, walk the estate paths or sit by the ponds and count kingfishers.
Stays of a week or more get 10% off, and we're happy to agree a monthly rate. Meals can be ordered from the neighbours, so you don't have to cook.
Good to know before you come
- The last stretch is steep
- The cottage sits at the top of a narrow village road. Tuk-tuks manage it fine; if you're driving yourself, we'll send directions.
- Power can drop out
- Village electricity isn't always reliable. There are torches in the house and candles for outside.
- Water is precious
- Hot water comes from the sun, so it's limited on grey days in the rainy season. Please go easy on water in the dry months.
- Leeches after rain
- They're harmless, but not fun. We'll lend you a spray and tell you how to deal with them before a hike.
- Check-in and out
- Check-in from 13:00 to 22:00, check-out by 11:00. Tell us your arrival time and someone will be there.
- House rules
- No smoking indoors, no pets, no parties, and quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00.
